County Ambassador Program

A San Bernardino County Ambassador is the representative and champion of the 4-H program. County Ambasadors act as visible 4-H members, role models for their fellow 4-H members, their county, their state, and their world.

County Ambassador

A San Bernardino County 4-H Ambassador is the representative and champion of the 4-H program while they are developing their leadership skills.  They act as visible 4-H members - role models for their fellow 4-H members, their county, their state, and their world.  The County Ambassador team plans their activities and learning goals within established guidelines provided in the manual.
 
Important Dates
 
     Application Deadline: Sunday, August 25, 2024
     Interviews: Saturday, August 31, 2024 (Location and Time TBA)
     Selection Letters Emailed: Week of September 2.  
     County Announcement of Team: Achievement Night, Saturday, September 7, 2024
     Orientation: Saturday, September 21, 2024, 10:00 am - 3:00 pm (Location TBA)

Qualifications
  • Senior 4-H members (ages 14 - 18).  On the first day of appointment to County Ambassador, applicants must be at least 14 years old.  

  • Applicants must have at least one year of prior 4-H membership, which does not need to be consecutive or the most recent year.  

  • Applicants must demonstrate leadership experience and skills by documenting the following:

    Mastery of a project: A minimum of 6 hours of instruction, supported by a skills statement
    Significant leadership roles: 40 hours, with at least 10 hours within 4-H.
    Civic Engagement and/or community service: 30 hours, with at least 6 hours through 4-H. 
    Public speaking engagements: 10 total, including at least 2 at 4-H events.
    Involvement in 4-H: A list of 15 activities, which may include project skills activities, attendance 
      at 4-H events, honors, and recognition. 

    OR achieve a Gold Star Rank.  
 
Time Commitment
 
The 2024 - 2025 County Ambassador is a 12 month commitment that go from September 2024 to August 2025.  It is expected for Ambassadors to meet once a month either in-person or virtually.   
 
All Ambassadors are required to attend an orientation at the beginning of their term.  Orientation, time, and location will be determined by the team after selection.  
 
Ambassadors will be expected to participate and support countywide events and projects including but not limited to Food Fiesta, County Field Day, Achievement Night, and others.  
 
Additional time throughout the program year will be needed to accomplish projects the ambassador team is actively working on.  

Junior Ambassador Program

The Junior Ambassador program is available for youth ages 12 and above. These youth members are not quite ready to be an ambassador or do not meet the age requirement. They will assist the ambassor team in planning, outreach, and activities.
