Upcoming TSC Clover Days!

Sep 20, 2016
Dear 4-H Leaders,

The California 4-H Foundation updated information about the Tractor Supply Company (TSC) Paper Clover Campaign  in the CA 4-H September Newsletter. Starting this fall for every dollar donated, $.90 will go directly to send kids to 4-H camp and participate in leadership conferences, and only $.10 will go to National 4-H Council. This means that the California 4-H Foundation will send the county a check with the amount fundraised, as they have done in the past,  but the San Bernardino County 4-H office will need to report back to them how this money is spent so it matches the TSC requirements for funds being used for 4-H camp and leadership conferences.

The funds earned by clubs working together at a particular store will still be divided equally amongst the clubs that participate at the store encouraging customers to donate during Clover Days. Though with the new process, any club that actively participated at a store must submit a request for payment for camp and/or leadership activities rather than receive a check written directly to the club itself. Your club could for example request a check for fees associated with leadership events such as SLC.  For our younger members, we might need to plan an age appropriate leadership activity or short term camp. The County 4-H office will be happy to help to make that opportunity possible at the local level.

We appreciate your club's willingness to take part in the Tractor Supply's Clover Days.  This is a great outreach activity where we can show off the difference 4-H makes for youth and the community.  It is also something you could include in your end of the year packet at the club level. Also, Clover Days provides many opportunities for your members to practice their communication skills which they could include in their record book. Other options for participating clubs include holding one of your project meetings in the store, sharing information about your club projects, as well as showing off community service events in which your club participates. Clubs that included such activities at Clover Days last spring found great success.

Thanks you in advanced for your support in the upcoming campaign.
