MONTAGUE, Ca. --- The majority of students at Big Springs Elementary Schools participate in its after school program called S.A.F.E. 4-H members are shown with their school garden program that they do in conjunction with the afterschool program.

The S.A.F.E. program provides students with nutritious snacks, homework help and other recreational activities for students each school week.

Students say they enjoy going to the S.A.F.E. because they get to spend more time with their friends and also get help on their homework.

The program is free for all students and is offered every day after school. On average, around 115 students, out of the school's 125 enrollment, attend the program everyday.

S.A.F.E isn't the only program that students at Big Springs take part in. Last year, students participated in Relay Recess with the American Cancer Society. With the help of local businesses, students raised $2,140.
